# Roundcube

|
|
1. Copy `.env.example` to `.env` and replace the example mail-server values.
|
|
2. Start the container:
|
|
|
|
```powershell
|
|
docker compose up -d
|
|

|
3. Open [http://localhost:9002](http://localhost:9002) and sign in with your mail credentials.
|
|
|
|
The container publishes Roundcube on host port `9002`. SMTP uses port `587` by default and the `tls://` server prefix, which makes Roundcube negotiate STARTTLS. Its database is retained in the named `roundcube-db` volume.
|
|
|
|
## Skins
|
|
|
|
Set `ROUNDCUBE_SKIN` in `.env` to choose the UI skin (default `elastic`). The image bundles `elastic` and `larry`; any other skin published as `roundcube/<name>` on Packagist (for example `roundcube/larry`) is installed automatically on container start. Because the web root is bind-mounted at `./var/www`, installed skins persist across container recreations.

|
|
|
To use a custom third-party skin, drop its folder into `./var/www/html/skins/` and set `ROUNDCUBE_SKIN` to the folder name. Signed-in users can also pick any installed skin themselves under Settings → Preferences → User Interface. |
